Paper Library – List of Holdings

The Paper Library has been re-organised, and the list up-dated to include all recent additions (purchases and donations), and more descriptive detail of older items.

A few specialist non-Lincolnshire items, obsolete items, duplicates (not listed), and all Census Indexes have been placed in our “Archive” Section. All other holdings will be brought to Workshop meetings at the Town Hall.

The transcriptions and indexes are mainly intended for reference at the Meeting, but may be borrowed by request. The books and booklets are available for reading or lending. Older items are included where they may still be of some interest.

The Library will no longer be brought to ordinary meetings where there is a speaker, but items can be requested or returned. All items, including those in the Archive section, can also be ordered in advance by e-mail  or telephone.

  1. 1.   Memorial Inscription (MI) Holdings

These transcriptions from within local churches and graveyards, recorded and indexed by members of the LFHS, vary in age and detail. Some older versions have been replaced, and Brenda Coulson has supplied some recent revisions, which include details of the history of the churches. A complete alphabetical list of current holdings is available separately, with the dates of transcription or revision included. The old general index is still listed, as it may still be of use to beginners.

     2. Transcripts of Lincolnshire Registers (mainly the local area)

These are indexed or are arranged alphabetically. Some baptism records also include dates of birth.
